We are proud to have been supported by UNICEF, Caritas, Terre des Hommes and most recently by the EU Delegation for the Meet in Play project.

What is Capoeira?
Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian sport and art form of ritualised fighting, combining dance, acrobatics, music and rhythm.
There is a philosophy in capoeira based on respect; there are no winners, no losers. It’s a group activity where people play and learn together.
Capoeira is a way of expressing love for life, one that is characterised by spirituality, playfulness, fun, risks, challenges, failure and success.

About Us
CapoeirArab is a independant capoeira school operating in Syria. It is part of the Companhia Penas Pro Ar academy.
Our mission is to reach out an engage all Syrian youth regardless of their financial means.
The school was founded in August 2007 by Tarek ‘Laranja’ Alsaleh. The classes quickly grew and we began the first of our social programs, the latest of which is Meeting In Play.
Moussa ‘Latino’ Mokraoui joined in 2008, and since we have tought capoeira to over 6000 people across Syria. We will continue to do more, in particular with new sister organisation Bidna Capoeira.
